The Lynbrook Long Island Rail Road train station is getting an upgrade! It’s one of three LIRR stations where coffee and other light delicacies will be served to commuters while they wait for their train. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) was involved and helped make this project a success.
LIRR President Rob Free stated that he and his team are always looking for ways to improve their residents’ commutes, and by providing coffee and other food items, it can only help to make their LIRR journey a bit easier.
But that’s not all! In addition to Lynbrook, they are also opening coffee shops at the Manhasset and Port Washington LIRR stations. Andrew Belding, the managing partner of JPA Concessions, shared their vision of creating a cozy, nice-looking spot for commuters. They call it ‘Retail in Motion.’” He added that they’re all about boosting community vibes, improving infrastructure, going green, improving public spaces, and hiring local residents at each station.
Adding to the infrastructure aesthetics, the MTA also plans to build an art gallery at the Manhasset station. Local artists will be able to showcase their work there. David Florio, the MTA’s Chief Real Estate Transactions and Operations Officer, pointed out, “Hundreds of thousands of commuters spend part of their day at an MTA facility, and these high-traffic spots offer a unique opportunity for a business to grow along with the railroad.”
With these improvements, Nassau County has a lot to look forward to, and this is only the beginning.
